Appointment of Chief Operating Officer 


The Center for Open Science (COS) is a non-profit technology and culture change organization founded in 2013 with a mission to increase openness, integrity, and reproducibility of scientific research. COS pursues this mission by building communities around open science practices, supporting metascience research, and developing technologies such as OSF (Open Science Framework), a free, open source software tool. 


COS is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO). The COO is responsible for envisioning and coordinating cross-department collaboration, particularly for internal management of external partner and customer relationships. This includes management of cross-team workflows; information transmission via meetings, communication channels, and  Salesforce; and operational strategy for advancing the mission and business plan.


The COO is the chief coordinator of cross-team functionality, information workflows, and partner relations. We are looking for a COO that can catalyze and coordinate internal communication and collaboration across the teams to leverage our strengths and create fluidity and advance our mission. We also need a COO to serve as a gateway to complex external partnerships that engage all areas of the organization. The successful candidate will possesses senior organizational leadership experience and be committed to COS’s mission and values. They will be a “big picture” thinker who can translate strategic plans into workflows and operational tactics. Crucially, they will be an excellent communicator with the capacity to continuously refine and improve communication methods and channels to enable organizational alignment and efficiency.
