We are now looking to appoint our next Client Account Manager to join our Global Research Leadership Practice (GRL). The Practice is focused upon providing international executive search for a diverse range of clients, including specialist higher education institutions, independent research institutes, funding councils, learned societies, policy organisations, and other leading bodies within the sector. We specialise in appointing to posts where higher education, and research agendas more broadly, meet wider government policy and priorities, giving us a genuine breadth of experience and understanding of the wider strategic issues within and across the sector.

Client Account Managers are integral to the executive search process and are responsible for ensuring our clients, candidates and colleagues receive world-class administration across all areas of the business. The role requires a person of considerable talent who has the ability and highly developed organisational skills to proactively juggle multiple tasks and perform them at pace with accuracy and excellent attention to detail. There is substantial contact with both clients and candidates, so highly developed interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including a strong customer service ethos and an appreciation of the importance of quality, discretion, and integrity.

Key responsibilities – including but not limited to:

  • Effective project management of upwards of 15-20 projects at a time.
  • Be a champion for quality and precision, internally and externally.
  • Provide professional and efficient liaison with respect to candidates, clients, new business & troubleshooting.
  • Take ownership of the client and candidate relationship and act as an extension of the Consultant to drive each process forwards.
  • Excellent administration including diary management, organisation of meetings and preparation, proofing & dissemination of relevant materials.
  • Support the Consultant with the design and implementation of a strategic business development plan.

Person Specification

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally with some element of customer service or client facing experience.
  • Excellent written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Articulate, clear, and confident when liaising with leaders at the most senior level, both in person and on the telephone.
  • Sharp and rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
  • Highly organised with excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Solutions-focused, results-driven, and able to thrive in a challenging, time-sensitive environment while remaining calm under pressure and handling all situations with the utmost care and integrity.
  • Positive, curious, enthusiastic and a great team player, as well as highly capable of working independently.
  • A creative and flexible approach, strong work ethic and drive, demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiative, as well as the ability to think outside the box.
  • A commercial mind-set and the desire to work in an environment that proactively seeks out business development opportunities, taking responsibility and ownership for driving business development activity.

Desirable but not essential:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of and interest in Higher Education and Science and Research Leadership.
