Appointment of Founding Dean of the Medical School

The University now seeks to appoint an outstanding medical professional and educator to fill the role of Founding Dean of the Medical School. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead TCMS through the next phase of its development. The Dean will provide the strategic, academic, and operational leadership necessary to deliver the vision, design, and implementation of the new School, embedding an outstanding student education and experience within a developing research culture. The School’s planned curriculum emphasises problem-based learning, early consultations, programmatic assessment, and professional, emotionally intelligent communication at every stage. The Dean will be responsible for overseeing the GMC approval process and instituting an ambitious strategy that will ensure that the School becomes a highly successful new medical school.

The successful candidate will be an established leader with a deep understanding of the strategic imperatives of a contemporary medical school, an enthusiasm for the goals and vision of TCMS, and a passion for medical education, scholarship and research.  A dynamic individual with a collaborative, inspirational approach, the Dean will bring a strong personal commitment to high quality, inclusive education and widening access, and a proven track record of effective senior leadership. In addition, the Dean will be highly effective in developing and maintaining purposeful partnerships with Local Clinical Research Networks, NHS trusts and other key health bodies in the region and nationally.
