Ryde School is a leading day and boarding school on the South Coast. Situated on the Isle of Wight, minutes from the mainland and international links yet also a short walk from the beach with beautiful views across the Solent, Ryde School is a wonderful and rewarding place to work.

Educating girls and boys aged 2 ½ to 18, this is an island school with a clear global outlook.  Pupils come together in an ambitious, vibrant and supportive community to learn the resilience, values and skills that will sustain them wherever they might find themselves in the future.

The School promotes a healthy atmosphere of learning in which all pupils seek to develop their full potential. In academic matters, an independent attitude is encouraged, one where each pupil wants to learn and make full use of excellent resources available which have seen considerable investment in recent years especially in boarding.

The Governors now seek an inspirational leader to succeed Mark Waldron who has been appointed Director of The British School in Rio de Janeiro, one of the leading schools in South America.  The new Head has an exciting opportunity to further develop a highly successful school, propelling the Ryde community forward in the continued pursuit of excellence in all areas. S/he will be an outstanding educational leader able to develop and deliver the School’s strategy and vision, which ensures that it looks to the future with continued dynamism and ambition.

The new Head will have a demonstrable track record of successful senior leadership experience and will be a compelling communicator, with strong academic credentials and all round capabilities including business acumen. A highly visible leader both in the School but also the wider Island community, the successful candidate will possess the gravitas and collegiality to work well with a committed staff team, Governors and external stakeholders. A genuine resonance with holistic education and boarding, preferably gained through experience, is highly desirable.
