The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) is leading the global effort to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals. Since starting operations in 1996, UNAIDS has led and inspired global, regional, national and local leadership, innovation and partnership with the aim of ultimately consigning HIV to history. UNAIDS provides the strategic direction, advocacy, coordination and technical support needed to catalyse and connect leadership from governments, the private sector and communities to deliver life-saving HIV services.
Under the leadership of a new Executive Director, UNAIDS is embarking on an ambitious change program. Our Global AIDS Strategy 2021-2026 - End Inequalities. End AIDS. is a bold new approach to use an inequalities lens to close the gaps that are preventing progress towards ending AIDS. Alongside this, we are undertaking an Alignment exercise to ensure that UNAIDS financial and human resources are best placed to respond to the current challenges and those of the future of the AIDS response and transforming our organizational culture - the way we do our business and how we work together, to reflect our values and principles.
We are now seeking a new Director of the Regional Support Team for Latin America and the Caribbean to provide leadership for an expanded UN System response to AIDS at regional and country levels in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Director will promote, support and provide guidance to countries, partners and the UN System in the region, in order to fast-track HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. The Director is also responsible for leading on the delivery of the UNAIDS Strategy across the region.
