Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) was founded in 1878 as the first College for women to study in Oxford; it has remained true to its pioneering vision ever since. Inspired by a passion for intellectual enquiry and a desire to open up educational and career opportunities, LMH is committed to inclusive and fair entry. The College became co-educational in 1979, and in 2016 launched the innovative Foundation Year Programme in order to boost the admission of students who would not normally have the opportunity to apply for an Oxford degree directly from school.
As one of the 39 constituent colleges of the University of Oxford, LMH is an open and diverse community, which seeks to inspire and to challenge outstanding undergraduates and graduates and to facilitate internationally distinguished teaching and research. With 50 Fellows and over 140 professional staff. LMH is a friendly, welcoming and stimulating community, and is home to c.400 undergraduates and over 200 graduates and 8 Foundation year students.
The Fellowship is inviting applications for the role of Principal, to take up post at the start of the academic year 2022/23. Candidates will be of high standing in their chosen field and will capture and convey the spirit of the College, and embrace the opportunity of this exciting, varied and challenging role. The new Principal will be committed to the pioneering ethos of the College and energetic in leading the academic aspirations for LMH and in promoting the interests of all its members. With genuine intellectual curiosity and interest in the activities of students, Fellows, staff and alumni. candidates will demonstrate an aptitude and appetite for fundraising and the desire to support and enable the ongoing success of the whole LMH community.
