Appointment of Chief Operations Officer

We are seeking to appoint a new Chief Operations Officer (COO) who will play an instrumental role in delivering our ambitions. A member of the Senior Executive Team (SET), and reporting to the President and Principal, the COO is one of three senior members of the professional services leadership, in a newly established structure that will oversee a transformation to optimise our infrastructure and service, and transform our ways of working. With oversight of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development, IT, HR, Research Services and Business Development and the professional services of our three Faculties, the COO will have an excellent opportunity for impact, providing outstanding leadership to these teams, and driving the development of the virtual, physical and cultural working environments across our campuses. Queen Mary has a turnover of more than £500 million, of which £112 million is research income.

You will be an inspiring and energetic individual with a track record of successful strategic leadership, operational management and service transformation across a large and complex organisation. You will demonstrate the capacity to translate your professional experience effectively into our world-leading academic environment and work with colleagues to deliver a cohesive and agile service.
