CAMFED International (Campaign for Female Education) catalyses the power of vulnerable girls and young women to create the future they imagine - for themselves, for their communities, and for Africa.
Who we are
CAMFED is a pan-African movement, revolutionising how girls’ education is delivered. Through a gold-standard system of accountability to the young people and communities we serve, we have created a model that radically improves girls’ prospects of becoming independent, influential women.
Our impact increases exponentially through the Association of young women educated with CAMFED’s support. The CAMFED Association is Africa’s largest and fastest-growing network of young women activists who are capitalising on their own education, each cascading their learning and expertise to support many more girls in their communities. Together, we multiply the number of girls in school, and accelerate their transition to livelihoods and leadership.
Over the next five years, CAMFED’s goal is to ensure another five million girls are learning and thriving in school, and on a trajectory to economic independence. We will help 50,000 young women to transition into productive and sustainable enterprises, cascading their knowledge to 750,000 others. And we aim to create 150,000 new jobs, especially in climate-smart enterprises.
As a Trustee you will contribute to the development of CAMFED, by helping us support, guide and deliver our strategy to 2025 and beyond.
Who we are looking for
CAMFED is seeking trustees who are deeply invested in multiplying not just value, but our values of equity and inclusion. We are looking for four to five outstanding candidates to join us over the next 18 months. We are committed to building a strong Board, equipped for the future, with the right skills and experience to govern across all areas. We aim to achieve a step change in board diversity and to build robust board succession.
Our new Trustees will be individuals of exceptional calibre who can support, guide and deliver our strategy to 2025 and beyond. You will bring expertise and experience in one of the following priority areas: Finance, investment and treasury management; leadership; governance; fundraising; and digital strategy and transformation in a global organisation.
We are looking for individuals with senior leadership experience in a commercial, public sector or not-for-profit environment. You will possess a demonstrable understanding of, and evident passion for, the work undertaken by CAMFED, with experience that might include either entrepreneurial expertise or a thorough understanding of education, ideally with knowledge of what it takes to succeed in an African context.
You will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of diversity, equity and inclusion, and a willingness to devote time, enthusiasm and effort to the duties and responsibilities of a Trustee.
