About Singapore Management University

Singapore Management University (SMU) is a premier university in Asia, internationally recognised for its world-class research and distinguished teaching. Established in 2000, SMU’s mission is to generate leading-edge research with global impact and produce broad-based, creative and entrepreneurial leaders for the knowledge-based economy.

Home to around 10,000 undergraduates and postgraduates, SMU comprises six schools:

  • School of Accountancy
  • Lee Kong Chian School of Business
  • School of Economics
  • School of Computing and Information Systems
  • Yong Pung How School of Law
  • School of Social Sciences

The University offers a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degree programmes in the disciplinary areas associated with the six schools, as well as in interdisciplinary combinations of these areas.

Aside from it’s wide ranging educational programmes, SMU has an emphasis on generating rigorous, high-impact, and relevant multi-disciplinary research that addresses Asian issues of global relevance. SMU faculty collaborates with leading international researchers and universities from USA, Europe, China and India as well as with partners in the business community and public sector, through its research institutes, centres and labs.

SMU’s city campus is a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of downtown Singapore, fostering strategic linkages with business, government and the wider community.

The University is now in the second phase of its ambitious ‘Vision 2025’. The vision provides the focused approach SMU needs for the growth journey ahead. It offers a framework grounded in three priorities: Digital Transformation, Sustainable Living, and Growth in Asia. Vital for the realisation of the vision is advancing the University’s ‘one SMU’ culture, as reflected in programs, structures, systems, processes and mind-sets.

Against this background the University has now commenced the search for its inaugural Senior Director, Academic Services and Operations. Reporting directly to the Provost of the University, the role is charged with providing direction to a newly reorganised department comprising operational activities related to the student life cycle and programmes; including the registrar’s office, recruitment and admissions, financial assistance, careers services, international student programmes and exchanges.
