The British School Jakarta (BSJ) is an international school with a distinctive British heritage, providing outstanding education for 1200 students aged 3-18. One of the leading international schools in South East Asia, BSJ is a vibrant global community, welcoming students and families from over 45 different nationalities.

Under the leadership of David Butcher, who has been the Principal since August 2018, the School is embarking on an important new phase in its development. In the rapidly changing world of international education, BSJ aspires to be a pioneering school, setting new standards and recognised as a sector leader. The strategic aim is to be a school for ‘today and tomorrow’, and a series of unique partnerships with MIT, 8billionideas, Manchester City Football School and others are already expanding BSJ’s sphere of influence, and in turn enriching the educational experience of its students.

This is an exciting time to join the BSJ community and the next Head of Business & Operations will play a critical role in helping the School to realise its goals. BSJ has recently embarked on a new strategic plan, including a new Mission and Vision.  The appointed candidate will make a powerful contribution to this as a member of the School’s Executive Board.

The successful candidate will combine a substantial track record of broad operational management experience, first-class interpersonal skills and significant business acumen. They will balance a capacity for strategic thinking with a strong grasp of detail and will bring excellent judgement skills together with the highest levels of professional integrity. Whilst prior experience of education is not required, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the BSJ mission and guiding principles and be excited by the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of a dynamic school at the cutting edge of educational innovation.

The British School Jakarta is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; BSJ expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to provide an Enhanced DBS disclosure certificate/police checks and an International Child Protection Certificate. Non-working spouses will also be required to complete a full self-disclosure document for safeguarding purposes.
