Victoria University is seeking an exceptional, transformative leader who will lead the creation of a people-centric culture and work collaboratively across the organisation, as the voice of the students and staff, to deliver tangible value to both.

This is a never before seen role in the sector, another VU first, the home of the innovative VU Block Model.

Through this new and strategically important role, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor People and Organisation, VU is signalling its commitment to continue to elevate and transform the experience of our people, comprising students and staff, to be a thriving place to study and work.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor People and Organisation will play a critical role in the enactment of our new Strategic Plan 2022-2028: Start well, finish brilliantly, in achieving our vision to be a global leader in dual sector learning and research by 2028.

The Opportunity

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor People and Organisation delivers the strategy as well as the transformation and continuous improvement of relevant services, systems and processes to provide reliable, seamless and positive experiences for our people. This role is pivotal in the university, being a competitive differentiator, recognising the high value of the equal parity of students and staff to build trust and contribute to an inclusive organisational culture.

VU needs a leader who can build cross-functional alliances, facilitate working together, instil the discipline of process change, and lead change management across the organisation. The person who takes on this role will ensure that the university’s vision and core values are articulated clearly in its organisational culture as well as be a trusted champion for the people who work and study under the VU banner. They will have strong input into decisions around any matters that affect the VU experience including the built environment, the role and use of digital technologies, and the future of study and work.

This role will also lead the positioning of Victoria University as a new generation university of choice for students and staff, through leading an integrated marketing, media and communications function that will drive an exceptional reputation and globally recognised brand.

If you are looking for a role that will give you the imprimatur to challenge thinking and activate debate on the status quo and cultural legacy of the university, especially for the student and staff experience – this role is for you.
