The social care sector has been rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite their very best efforts, social care providers have dealt with the most tragic of challenges, struggling to keep their residents and staff safe in the face of a virus that not even the world’s leading scientific experts can properly understand.

CareTech Foundation delivers meaningful impact to communities in the UK and overseas by supporting and championing the social care sector, care workers and those living in care. We do this through four grant streams in line with our three charitable objectives: physical and learning disabilities and mental health, skills development for the care sector, and supporting our communities. We are growing and developing, including through introducing innovative new initiatives to bolster the social care sector in any way we can.

The Foundation is seeking to appoint a new independent Trustee who will help us to build on the incredible successes of our first three years, having so far directly supported almost half a million people and establishing ten strategic partnerships, amongst a far wider number of entities supported. As a Trustee, you will work closely with the Chair, Chief Executive and the rest of the Board to provide strategic leadership and direction to the Foundation in pursuit of its charitable purposes and aims. You will also represent the Foundation externally in relevant fora, and be a champion of its work and that of the social care sector.

The successful candidate will bring good understanding of governance and Nolan principles, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the requisite strategic thinking and vision, a collaborative approach including the willingness to challenge appropriately, and good, independent judgement and creative thinking capabilities. You must also be able to commit to the required time for preparing for and attending Board and Committee meetings, and for any ad hoc work in between. We are particularly interested in candidates with business/corporate experience at senior level, grant-making knowledge, and/or professional understanding of the social care sector/mental health/disability and charity governance.

If you have the passion and know-how to contribute to our ongoing growth and success, and resonate with our values of integrity, collaboration and empowerment, then we look forward very much to hearing from you.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and fair participation, and we welcome applications from all qualified individuals irrespective of gender, disability, marital or parental status, racial, ethnic or social origin, colour, religion, belief, or sexual orientation.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification quoting reference 5307. The closing date for applications is Monday 27th September 2021.

CareTech Foundation are based in England, UK and the role of Trustee is a minimum three year term, renewable by mutual agreement.
