Swansea University is one of the most exciting, dynamic and leading health data science centres in the UK and internationally. Population Health Data Science is based in the purposely designed Data Science Building, funded by the MRC, ESRC and Welsh Government. It houses more than 130 data scientists from many different disciplines working in a number of research centres of excellence including: The Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank; Health Data Research UK’s (HDR UK) Wales and Northern Ireland site; Administrative Data Research UK, Wales; MQ Adolescent Data Platform; MytHICAL- Mental Health Informatics in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults; CLIMB: Cloud Infrastructure for Microbial Bioinformatics; Dementias Research UK Data Portal; and the National Centre for Population Health and Wellbeing Research.

Swansea University and the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science is recruiting a Professor of Population Health Data Science. We are seeking an established researcher in the field of population health data science from a clinical or non-clinical background to join the team. The postholder will be expected to direct an internationally competitive programme of research in the broad area of population health. The appointee should already be established or close to establishing national and international recognition as a leader in this field. The individual will be expected to engage with some of the existing wide-ranging national and international data intensive research collaborations in the Faculty and to develop their own independent collaborations.

The closing date for applications is Friday 22nd October 2021. Applications will be considered by the Selection Committee in November. Final interviews are expected to take place in late November 2021.
