A World Without Violence.

Cure Violence Global (CVG), ranked #9 on the NGO Advisor’s 2021 list of the top 200 NGOs in the world, is looking for a new CEO who understands, appreciates, and wants to promote the health approach to interrupting and stopping violence. CVG is guided by clear understandings that violence is a health issue, that individuals and communities can change for the better, that community partners and strategic partnerships are keys to success, and that rigorous, scientific, professional ways of working are essential for effectiveness. Violence behaves like a contagious problem. It is transmitted through exposure, acquired through contagious brain mechanisms and social processes, and can be effectively treated and prevented using health methods. To date, the health and humanitarian sectors have been highly underutilized for the prevention, treatment, and control of violence. Now is the time to mobilize health and public health systems as well as international and humanitarian organizations to work with communities and other sectors to stop global and local epidemics of violence.

We are seeking an outstanding CEO to lead Cure Violence Global as it solidifies its base and scales to the next level. The CEO of Cure Violence Global is responsible for the strategic leadership of the organization. Working with the Board of Directors and senior staff, the CEO will establish and ensure the implementation of long-term goals, strategies, plans and policies. They will also engage with partners and stakeholders as the primary representative of Cure Violence. This is a critical period in CVG’s development as it pursues its mission of reducing violence globally using health and epidemic control methods and by shifting the violence reduction paradigm to that of a standard health epidemic

The successful CEO will be an inspirational and visionary leader, with a demonstrable track record of executive leadership and successfully scaling non-profit organizations from one stage to another in size and impact.  A compelling and persuasive advocate with a strong fundraising skillset, our next CEO will bring a global outlook and will have built impactful partnerships across sectors. Demonstrable experience working internationally will be advantageous. We are seeking an excellent manager, and a decisive, strategic, agile thinker, with excellent analytical skills. The successful candidate will bring a track record of driving innovation, and an empowering approach to lead our high-caliber team. Alongside a demonstrative commitment to the communities we serve, the CEO of CVG will have lived experience with, or authentic attention to, diverse, inclusive, and equitable - based approaches and issues.

To apply, please submit a CV and cover letter, detailing how you fulfill the role description and personal specification to https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference 5372. The deadline for applications is Sunday, December 5.

The preferred location for this role is Washington DC or New York City (CVG is willing to consider other locations). The salary for this role will be commensurate with experience.

CVG is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants of all nationalities, races, ethnicities, religions, genders, gender identities, and sexual orientations. Cure Violence Global encourages applicants who bring work or lived experience in low- and middle-income communities or countries, as well as the perspectives of communities experiencing violence.
