The Director of Accounting Services will transform our organisational capacity in financial control, compliance and customer service providing critical support to Plan’s financial governance and transparency and ensuring the successful delivery of Plan’s vision and strategy. This is an opportunity for a strategic thought leader with strong operational leadership and management skills to lead on transforming all aspects of financial accounting, statutory reporting and customer service for c.€1billion global organisation across 80 countries. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance and IT and serving as a trusted adviser to the CEO and senior colleagues, this role is responsible for ensuring Plan’s financial sustainability, mitigating and minimising financial risks and ensuring Plan is compliant with regulatory requirements, as well as building a proactive, customer service culture. A strong business partnering approach is critical to enable this.
Plan International wishes to encourage applications from professional leaders with a breadth of financial experience within global corporations, INGOs (ideally humanitarian and development), or non-profit sectors and audit practice, ideally with experience working in multiple countries. Candidates will evidence professional accomplishments across financial strategy, accounting, and critical thinking. You will be a multi-disciplinary finance expert and be able to evidence a track record of leading business and culture transformation across an organisation. You will demonstrate good stakeholder management skills and implementation of financial accounting transformation in a large, complex and international environment. Additional Languages are advantageous. You must be a member of a recognised professional accountancy body, ideally ACA. Perhaps most importantly, you will bring a deep and demonstrable commitment to advancing children’s rights and equality for girls, as well as a strong affinity for Plan’s values and principles of feminist leadership.

The role is based in our Global Hub in Woking, UK with the opportunity for flexible working. Infrequent global travel will be required, and the salary is commensurate with the seniority of this Grade G6 appointment. The salary for an appointed candidate will be circa £95,000 per annum.
