The Norfolk Cricket Board (NCB) is Recruiting New Board Members

The Norfolk Cricket Board is responsible for developing recreational cricket in the county. We are proud of what we have achieved in recent years, particularly with our work in schools, the success of our county youth teams, the quality of our cricket workforce and our efforts to grow the game, particularly for women and girls.

To help us achieve our ambitions we are recruiting non-executive directors. The priority for recruiting new Board members is to appoint people who have the passion, skills and experience to meet the needs of existing cricket communities whilst also creating a diverse environment to bring new people towards the game.

Whilst not a minimum requirement for applications, the Board would be particularly interested to hear from individuals who have passion, skills or experience relating to:

·         Increasing women’s and girls’ participation;

·         Working with or within diverse communities.

We have recently adopted a County Plan that, as well as recognising the importance of our traditional activities, has these priorities:

·         Transform Women & Girls Cricket;

·         Retain and Increase Participation;

·         Grow the Cricket Workforce;

·         Optimise Club Support;

·         Engage Children & Young People;

·         Develop opportunities for cricket in Norwich.

As an organisation the Board aims to be effective, open and accountable in the way it operates and to achieve the highest standards. We welcome applications from anyone who shares our commitment to inspire, lead and influence the growth of cricket in Norfolk. We are looking to drive equality, diversity and inclusion through our strategy to promote high performance and engagement and making the Norfolk Cricket Board a great place to work. We encourage innovative and fresh ways of thinking and recognise that by having a welcoming, supportive, safe and fair workplace for everybody we enhance our capacity for innovation and creativity.

It is not a requirement that you are already involved in cricket although a demonstrable desire to grow the game in line with our County Plan is essential.

“Having never played cricket, made the teas or prepared a wicket, this hasn’t stopped me being a Board Director with Norfolk Cricket for the last 4+ years.

My passion and skills are to support and encourage people to connect through sport and physical activity, whether as participants, spectators or volunteers.  The Norfolk Cricket Board is an amazing channel to allow me to do this and we are working hard to recruit more Board members who can make a difference.  It doesn’t matter what you do or don’t know about cricket, whether you have played or not but what is integral is your passion to want to make a difference.”

– Jane Hannah, NCB Director

Time commitment - 8 to 10 days per year

The Board of Directors currently meet quarterly and an annual away day. In addition, we have a small number of committees and there is also a limited amount of work between meetings.
