Edinburgh International Festival presents an internationally recognised programme of work from the world’s leading artists and ensembles from the fields of opera, theatre, dance, and music showcasing artistic excellence, internationalism, and innovative programming where virtuosity and diversity are recognised and celebrated. The Festival is resolutely international in its outlook, yet remains grounded in the city of Edinburgh and is committed to delivering extensive cultural, economic and social benefits to Edinburgh, Scotland and the UK. In addition to the annual programme, the Festival works year-round with children, families and communities in all parts of the city. Our mission is to promote cultural exchange and collaboration through a global celebration of exceptional performing arts.

We are now seeking to appoint a new Director of Development to help us achieve our vision. A member of the Festival’s senior leadership team, this role is responsible for all fundraising activities across membership, individual donors, legacy giving, international partners and corporate sponsors, trusts and foundations and endowment. You and your team will nurture and steward long-term relationships with a wide range of donors and supporters, delivering against ambitious fundraising targets and working closely with the Festival Director and Executive Director.

Candidates will bring a proven track record of high-value relationship development and income generation. They will be a creative and forward-thinking fundraising leader with expertise in major giving and who understands how to develop, implement, and deliver an innovative and effective fundraising strategy. The next Director of Development will have excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with everyone who interacts with the Festival. They will need to demonstrate strategic thinking as well as collaborative and inspiring leadership. Candidates must be highly committed and passionate about Diversity and Inclusion and aligned to the values and vision of the Festival.
