The School conducts world leading research in infectious and non-communicable diseases and has made significant contributions through its education, outreach and advocacy initiatives to improve the health of populations and individuals locally, regionally and globally. The Professor/ Clinical Professor, Director of the School of Public Health will:

  • Lead the School in achieving the highest standard in research and scholarship, teaching and learning, and advocacy in public health;
  • Be involved in teaching and mentoring students, supervising and supporting research to the extent possible;
  • Develop and lead implementation of strategic directions, collaborations and partnerships that will enable the School to become more internationally connected and involved with real-world public health priorities, in keeping with the best schools of public health worldwide; and
  • Successfully cultivate and maintain donor relations and financial support for the School



HKUMed is looking for well qualified, enthusiastic individuals who bring an international awareness and outlooks. Successful candidates should:

  • Possess either (i) a primary medical qualification registrable in Hong Kong and a postgraduate qualification in Public Health medicine or its equivalent; or (ii) an M.D., Ph.D. or Doctorate degree in public health, healthcare education, medical science, or a related field;
  • Possess a distinguished record of scientific and other notable contributions in the field of public health advancement;
  • Demonstrate an excellent track record in leadership and management at an appropriate level; and
  • Present evidence of international recognition and achievement demonstrating the ability to work across different disciplines, organizations or research fields related to public health
