Are you passionate about achieving transformative impact in global health?

The WHO Foundation (WHOF) was created as an independent Swiss foundation affiliated with but independent of WHO to marshal new resources from philanthropists, foundations, businesses, and individuals to support WHO's mission: promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. WHOF is a nexus for unique opportunity in global health, facilitating game-changing opportunities between the private sector and WHO. Our focus is on mobilizing grant income, shared value partnerships, and investment to power WHO’s work. The WHO Foundation shares the same vision as WHO: a world in which all people attain the highest possible level of health.

We are seeking a Chief Development Officer who will play a crucial role in the success of the WHO Foundation and help us reach our ambitious fundraising target of $1bn within three years. Working closely with and reporting directly to CEO Anil Soni, you will be responsible for leading all development efforts on behalf of the Foundation, co-creating and communicating a compelling vision for fundraising at the organization. You will build deep relationships with Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals, family offices, develop corporate partnerships, and oversee public-giving campaigns, efficiently marshalling the data required to drive this work. You will inspire and lead WHOF’s Development Unit of Philanthropy, Campaigns and Corporate Partnerships Departments.

The successful candidate will be a leader of unquestioned personal and professional integrity, operational excellence, convening power, and practical fundraising experience. You will possess a profound commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. You will have the capacity to build constructive dialogue and collaboration among people and promote a culture of innovation, urgency and empathy. You will be a disruptor and have a deep understanding of shared value philanthropy and an impressive track record of co-creating opportunities with philanthropists, corporates or public fundraising. You will be an outstanding communicator at ease in an external facing role, able to effectively articulate and amplify the WHO Foundation’s mission.

You will have a successful track record of developing long-term funding partnerships, securing major cash donations, but also of other giving mechanisms, including equity gifts and innovative finance mechanisms. You will be enthusiastic, energetic, optimistic and deeply invested in the WHO Foundation’s mission, and values. This is an exciting opportunity to join the WHO Foundation and have a transformative impact in Global Health.
