London Hockey Is Looking to Appoint New Independent Co-Opted Board Members

London Hockey is one of the eight new Areas responsible for delivering hockey activity on behalf of our governing body, England Hockey. We aim to provide the best possible hockey experience in Greater London for all existing participants, from players and clubs to volunteers, officials and those new to hockey.

We work closely with clubs, schools and local organisations to develop and grow the sport by offering a wide range of opportunities to play hockey. Our aim is to ensure that everyone in the Greater London Area has access to the sport and can participate on and off the field in a meaningful way.

To help us achieve our ambitions, we are looking to recruit two independent co-opted board members that share our values, can help us to fulfil our mission and ensure we benefit from appropriate oversight and the very best governance.

We welcome all applications, particularly those from individuals with professional experience in one of the following areas:

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and/or widening participation.
Marketing, Communications and Partnerships.

London Hockey recognises the enhanced creativity, performance and legitimacy of an organisation that is more representative and are actively striving to realise these benefits at Board and beyond. We welcome all applications, particularly those from individuals from under-represented ethnic backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community and those with disabilities. Although previous board experience is not a prerequisite, a willingness to help change happen is.

The closing date for applications is 9:00am (GMT) on Monday 30th May 2022.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, or have any questions about the role, please contact Elizabeth Owusu-Apenten on Elizabeth.OA@perrettlaver.com.

Inclusion

Perrett Laver believes that excellence will be achieved through recognising the value of every individual. A broad range of perspectives, backgrounds and opinions amongst our global community of colleagues is crucial in maintaining our culture of openness, intellectual curiosity and creativity. We take an active role in supporting under-represented communities and groups in becoming better and more fairly represented in the leadership of all organisations. We also know that diverse and inclusive teams have a positive impact on our ability to identify, engage and secure candidates from these groups.

Our commitment to inclusion across race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, identity and experience drives us every day – for clients, for candidate identification and in the recruitment, development and retention of colleagues.

To ensure inclusion on the basis of age, disability, ethnic or national origin, family circumstance, gender, gender identity, marital status, nationality, political or religious beliefs, race, socioeconomic background and sexual orientation, we would like to specifically invite applications from under-represented groups.
