BGS seeks a dynamic Director of Finance and Operations to provide outstanding strategic and operational financial leadership. As a committed member of the Senior Leadership Team, they will ensure the effective and creative delivery of professional services, to continually enhance the educational provision and welfare of the school community. Working in partnership with the Head and Governors, this is a pivotal role in ensuring BGS achieves its ambitious vision. This person will also provide a key link to The Harpur Trust and other Harpur Trust schools, enabling the achievement of the strategic aims of both BGS and the wider Trust.

The successful candidate will be a charismatic and visible leader, offering a proven track record of financial and operational leadership and management experience, alongside highly developed strategic leadership and communication skills. High level financial literacy and the ability to build medium- and long-term financial forecasts are essential, with financial qualifications desirable. They will have a strong ethos of transformational leadership and a commitment to the ongoing professional development of colleagues. A genuine resonance with girls’ education and the values of Bedford Girls’ School is essential.
