Social Development Direct (SDDirect) is a leading provider of high-quality, innovative and expert social development assistance and research services. As a specialist firm, we offer in-depth thematic expertise in safeguarding; gender-based violence prevention and response; equal education; governance and inclusive societies; green economies and infrastructure and digital, amongst others. We have a 20 year track record of providing high quality services, including technical advice and support, research, development assistance programme design, delivery and management, monitoring and evaluation. Our clients are leading international bilateral and multilateral development agencies, INGOs and Foundations. We are a medium-sized social enterprise, wholly owned by Plan International UK, with a global track record in over 50 countries.

SDDirect is seeking to appoint two Co-Technical Directors to provide strategic and operational leadership across our gender equality and social inclusion portfolios, and to work closely with colleagues in our business development and programmes teams to continue to grow our reach and impact. Reporting to the Managing Director of SDDirect, these are senior executive roles in one of the UK’s leading international consultancy and research organisations in the field of social development, a cutting edge and growing international social enterprise.

This role offers a unique opportunity for two leaders with complementary expertise and strong management experience to play a pivotal role in ensuring that SDDirect remains at the forefront of practice within its areas of expertise and maintains its reputation for technical excellence. They will provide strategic, technical and operational leadership to the expanding technical team. They will engage in direct delivery of programmes and contracts, as well as being members of the company’s senior management group, and attending the Board on a rotating basis. 

The Technical Directors will be recognised leaders in their area of gender equality and/or social development. We are particularly seeking candidates with extensive technical and managerial experience and expertise in our key portfolio areas: green economies and infrastructure, equal education, governance and inclusive societies, gender and conflict, GBV prevention and response, safeguarding, and gender sensitive research and evaluation.

All candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to gender and social inclusion, feminist leadership principles, and SDDirect’s values.

The role will be based in London, UK and the salary is 90-100k. Employees are eligible for our bonus scheme for up to 10% of salary based on company performance.
