SSPC, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Pharmaceuticals at the University of Limerick
SSPC was established in 2008 as a research cluster (Solid State Pharmaceutical Cluster) to bring together individual projects in the area of pharmaceutical crystallization, particle engineering and formulation. SSPC grew to a fully-fledged research centre in 2013 (Synthesis & Solid State Pharmaceutical Centre), and expanded further in 2019. SSPC is now a hub of internationally leading research that provides a partnership between leading researchers in (bio)pharmaceuticals and industry, developing innovative technologies to address key challenges facing the sector. SSPC further expanded the scope of its research programme from 2019-2025 (€70M) as an SFI Phase 2 Research Centre, SSPC, The Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Pharmaceuticals. SSPC’s advanced research programme extends to 5 themes: Molecules, Materials, Medicines, Manufacturing and Modelling.
SSPC is now looking to appoint a new Director. The successful candidate will provide overall scientific leadership for the Centre. This will include overseeing the overall development and successful delivery of SSPC’s current programme of work. It will also include overseeing the evolution of the Centre and the development of its vision and future research direction.
Salary Scale: €124,683- €157,612 p.a.
The term of this appointment is a five-year term with renewal for a second 5 year term following appropriate internal approval. A permanent appointment to a substantive post in the discipline area will be possible for a suitable applicant.
