Building on all of this, our new Strategic Framework, has set a highly-ambitious strategy to become a global top 50 institution by 2030. 

In this context, we are now seeking to appoint a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), to lead on enhancing the University’s research performance even further, building on the outstanding REF results and helping to achieve our ambition. 

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor is a senior academic leadership role, reporting to the Vice-Chancellor. Working closely with senior University leaders, the postholder is responsible for developing and implementing the University’s research agenda, working collaboratively with Colleges to transform research quality, significantly grow research income, and maximise our research impact nationally and globally. The successful candidate will have proven and substantial senior academic leadership and a successful track record in the delivery, management and leadership of research. They will bring strong, relevant external networks and relationships. They will have the ability to contribute to the University’s overall success as a member of the University Executive Board and to work collaboratively with others across the University, leading through influence.
