Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) Manager (Livelihoods)

The IKEA Foundation vision is a better everyday life for the many people.

We believe the two greatest threats to the future of children are climate change and poverty.  We believe it is possible to help families afford a better life while also protecting the planet. It’s our mission to improve the lives of vulnerable children by enabling their families to create sustainable livelihoods, and fight and cope with climate change.

The IKEA Foundation is funded by INGKA Foundation, owner of the Ingka Group of companies. The IKEA Foundation is independent from the retail business with a sole focus on creating brighter lives on a liveable planet through philanthropy and grantmaking.

The IKEA Foundation is now seeking an experienced Monitoring, Learning and EvaluationManager to join our six-person MLE team, to support primarily our Employment & Entrepreneurship and Agricultural Livelihoods and secondarily our Climate Action portfolios. As an MLE Manager, you will work closely with colleagues to make available and understandable to partners the existing evidence base to identify the level of uncertainty in achieving impact and appropriate key performance indicators and to commission independent evaluations and disseminate learning.  Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, you will contribute to the further development of the IKEA Foundation’s MLE function, being an active member and leader in strategic and operational initiatives.

We are seeking an individual with significant experience in implementing grant-level monitoring, learning and evaluation in livelihood-related programming. You will bring previous experience in managing complex assignments and conducting impact-focused independent evaluations. The successful candidate will be a strategic and analytical thinker, with strong goal orientation and creative problem-solving abilities. They will be able to speak to expert and non-expert audiences while refraining from jargon and framing complex issues in clear and simple language. They will be curious, initiative-rich, decisive, result oriented and a team player. Most importantly, the successful individual will demonstrate a strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of the IKEA Foundation.

By joining the IKEA Foundation, you will join a global team that values diversity and creativity. You will be able to contribute to constantly improving the grantmaking experience at the IKEA Foundation. In doing so, you will have the opportunity to work with innovative solutions and you will be challenged to come up with ideas for improvements in all areas. The better we can support our co-workers and partners, the more time and energy they can spend on the causes that we support!

This full-time (38 hours) position will be based in Leiden, The Netherlands, and the salary will be competitive with market rate.
