Deputy Executive Director, Customer and Commercial
The Buildings and Property Division are the stewards of Monash University’s campuses, buildings, and grounds. Our team of highly-skilled professionals strategically plan our spaces, deliver our projects, and manage every aspect of our environment. We have one overarching purpose – to create a vibrant, inclusive and engaging campus experience that supports our teaching, research and industry activities and adheres to the principles of sustainability, longevity and continuous improvement. Our most important asset is our people. We invest in our staff and promote and reward innovation. We collaborate with our stakeholders, consult widely with our peers, and are dedicated to delivering the highest quality services and outcomes for our customers.
We are seeking an experienced and customer centric leader to join our team in the role of Deputy Executive Director, Customer and Commercial. Together with the Executive Director and other members of the Executive Leadership Team, this role is responsible for the successful establishment of a new Customer team and transforming the culture of the Division into a customer focussed business. The Deputy Executive Director will demonstrate the ability to develop strong connections and relationships with senior staff across the University, the capacity to work with other Directors to improve customer knowledge and capability across the team, and experience in the creation of processes and systems centred on customer service.
The Deputy Executive Director has broad responsibility as 2IC for the Buildings and Property Division, with a particular focus on customer strategy and relations as well as providing authoritative commercial advice and oversight of all commercial divisional operations including the leadership of the Property and Leasing team. The successful candidate will therefore also demonstrate experience of leading complex property and leasing negotiations and the delivery of solutions to key partners, including government agencies and industry. The Deputy Executive Director will also bring the capacity to provide authoritative advice on issues of strategic sourcing and procurement across construction projects and the full suite of service related contracts delivered by the Division. The successful candidate will be an astute, inspirational, forward-looking leader who can generate impact with a truly collaborative approach that allows talent to develop and excel, and who will deliver a strong customer orientation to the critical work of the Division.
