Barrow Hills School is an independent co-educational IAPS day school and nursery educating 230 girls and boys aged 2 to 13 in rural Surrey.  Education at Barrow Hills is for life, not just the classroom and the School is committed to being leaders in Prep School education; promoting mutual respect, curiosity of mind and independence of spirit, preparing each child to move on to take their place in an ever-changing world.

The Court of Bridewell now seeks an outstanding educational leader to succeed Mr Philip Oldroyd who will retire at the end of the summer term 2023.  As a partner school with King Edward’s School Witley under the Bridewell Foundation, Barrow Hills School looks to its future with confidence and this is an exciting opportunity to lead a new phase of development at the School. Building on a strong platform financially, educationally and operationally, the next Head will develop and deliver a vision that ensures the School continues to move forward with dynamism and ambition.

The appointee will be an inspiring leader with the vision, strategic capabilities and drive to position Barrow Hills School as a leading 21st Century independent prep school.  Collegiate and a compelling communicator, the next Head will be a highly visible leader, with the strength of intellect and gravitas to work well with a committed staff team and with Governors and other stakeholders.  An empathy with Barrow Hills’ Christian principles and family centred ethos is important, as is a genuine resonance with the School’s mission and aims.

Barrow Hills School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and The Court expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
