RMIT University is a global university of technology, design and enterprise in which teaching, research and engagement are central to achieving positive impact and creating life-changing experiences for our students. One of Australia’s original educational institutions founded in 1887, RMIT now has more than 95,000 students and 10,000 staff globally. With three campuses in Melbourne, two in Vietnam, and a centre in Barcelona, Spain, RMIT enjoys an international reputation for excellence in professional and vocational education, applied and innovative research, and engagement with the needs of industry and the community.

RMIT has now commenced a comprehensive global search for an inspirational Chief Operating Officer to lead the University’s extensive corporate services portfolio through the next chapter of the institution’s ongoing development. This is an opportunity for an outstanding, experienced executive leader to help shape the University’s future and ensure our ongoing success. Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Alec Cameron, the COO will work collaboratively with other members of the University’s Senior Executive Team to shape RMIT’s vision, enact its values, and deliver strategic objectives.

With demonstrated experience of leading corporate services within large and complex organisations, the next Chief Operating Officer must be an agile, values-driven and innovative leader with a strong track record of delivery in challenging, rapidly changing organisational contexts. The successful candidate will bring the standing and ability to further develop our first-rate corporate functions and facilitate strong collaboration and partnerships across the University. Most importantly, the COO must also be a role model for the values of the University, mentor aspiring leaders, and deliver the continuous improvement of services, systems and processes necessary to provide reliable, seamless and positive experiences for the entire RMIT community.
