Warwickshire County Cricket Club (Warwickshire CCC) is steeped in 140 years of rich cricketing heritage, and we are now at an exciting stage of our development during a time of significant change across cricket and the broader sporting landscape.

Based in Birmingham, the UK’s second largest city, Warwickshire CCC is one of the largest and most successful Clubs in England and Wales with an annual turnover of circa £25m. In the last 10 years, Warwickshire CCC men’s team is the only one to have won all three domestic trophies. The County Championship title was secured in 2012 and again in 2021, and the team reached Finals Day of the T20 Blast competition in 2014 (winners), 2015 and 2017. We are proud to call the Edgbaston ground – one of the world’s most iconic cricket stadia and the site of some of the sport’s most historic moments – our home.

Building on a track record of success and high performance with accessibility at the core of what we do, we are currently seeking to identify and appoint a Co-Opted Independent Non-Executive Director to join our Board. The Board is collectively responsible for the Club’s leadership; the implementation of our strategic vision, including the development of the Edgbaston venue, the strengthening of our Community relevance; and, ensuring that our men’s and women’s teams compete at the highest levels in the professional game.

The Board facilitates the achievement of our strategy and oversees effective resource allocation while managing associated risks. It is accountable for fostering our sustainable success, as well as enhancing our profile and reputation, both nationally and internationally.

Successful candidates will have a track record of inclusive leadership, as well as a strong appreciation for the role of contemporary governance and the responsibilities of Non-Executive Directors. They will be excellent communicators, with the ability to work creatively and collaboratively in a complex stakeholder environment. They bring a strong empathy for – and embed themselves within – the broader culture of Warwickshire CCC and our cricket communities. Board experience is welcomed.

We are particularly seeking individuals who can evidence experience in one (or more) of the following areas:

  • Audit and Risk
  • Cricket
  • Technology/digital

The role is unremunerated and voluntary in nature. Attendance at the Club’s matches as well as international games hosted at Edgbaston will be provided for.

Time Commitment

A minimum commitment of 10 days per annum would be required to attend Board meetings (six per year) and to fulfil other Club duties

The Board meets a minimum of five times, usually six, per calendar year. These are normally held between the hours of 10.00 to 16.00, although additional meetings may occasionally be convened as required. Some Board members also participate in certain sub-committees. Directors are expected to attend a reasonable number of matches and occasionally undertake hosting responsibilities.


The appointment is for an interim period to the WCCC AGM in February 2024. At that time (and subject to vacancies) the Co-opted Board Director may be put forward by the Board for an initial period of three years as an Appointed Board Director.

A Director may be in position for a maximum of three terms of three years.


In line with the Club’s Constitution, there is an age limit of 70 for all Directors.
