The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a world-leading university, unique in its dedication to the social sciences. Led by our Director, LSE alumna Baroness Minouche Shafik we are a global community of people and ideas in the heart of central London, ranking third in the world in the QS subject rankings 2022. Founded with the purpose of “the betterment of society” we are driven to “know the causes of things” and we are ambitious to be the leading social science university with the greatest global impact.

Curious minds have been shaping the world for 125 years at LSE and our mission is more crucial than ever. At a time of extraordinary change and challenge, our core business of teaching and research will provide solutions, knowledge and discourse that is impactful and life-changing. Our Shaping the World Campaign commits to raising £350 million in philanthropic income and to securing volunteer time and contributions to advance knowledge and understanding, support potential, and create a more hopeful, equitable and sustainable world.

The Shaping the World Campaign has already raised over £220 million to date and has significant momentum. LSE Alumnus Firoz Lalji and his family recently made a $35 million commitment to create the Firoz Lalji Global Hub, enhancing LSE events and extended education programmes on campus, online and globally, the building will also be home to the Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa. Our Philanthropy and Global Engagement division has established itself as one of the UK’s most successful university fundraising teams. We now seek to appoint three Associate Directors of Leadership Philanthropy to join the Leadership Philanthropy colleagues as they continue to cultivate the highest level of donors and supporters.

Reporting to the Global Director of Development (and working closely with academic leads), the Associate Director will be responsible for securing philanthropic support for the University’s strategic philanthropic priorities and developing lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders.  Passionate about the role and value of a university in society, the successful candidate will be a highly skilled professional with an enterprising, creative, and determined mind-set and a track record in delivering six and seven-figure philanthropic gifts.

An executive search exercise is being undertaken by Perrett Laver who will support LSE in identifying the widest possible field of qualified candidates and assist in their assessment against the requirements for the role.

For informal inquiries please contact Jaanvi Patel on or +44 (0)20 3928 7368.

The closing date for applications is 12:00 BST on Sunday 4 December 2022.
