ActionAid UK is a member of the ActionAid Federation, an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. As part of the ActionAid Federation, we work with women and girls, our partners, and dedicated staff in 43 countries to end violence and fight poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

Our ambition is to be a powerful force for change, fighting poverty and injustice. We have chosen to do this by focusing on the rights of women and girls. In 2017, we launched a new five-year strategy to help us achieve this: Together, with Women and Girls. The denial of women and girls’ rights is one of the biggest causes of poverty worldwide, and a grave injustice. We shifted our focus because no community can truly prosper when half its citizens are denied the rights enjoyed by the other half. Our work also benefits men and boys living in poverty, but we put the rights of women and girls at the centre of all that we do.

We are seeking to appoint a new Director of People and Culture to help us make a real difference to the lives of the world’s poorest women and girls. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of People and Culture will contribute to ActionAid UK’s purpose and strategic plan. You will develop and deliver progressive HR and Organisational Development strategies and practices that increase ActionAid UK’s organisational capability to deliver. As an organisational leader, you will champion the development of ActionAid UK’s ways of working underpinned by our feminist principles and commitment to anti-racism, so that everyone is included and feels motivated to continue to deliver against an ambitious programme of transformational change. 

You will be a proven people and culture leader with successful experience of developing and implementing people strategy in a complex organisation. You will bring a strong commitment to ActionAid’s vision, feminist principles, safeguarding, and ActionAid’s objective to be a trans-inclusive anti-racist organisation.
