Simon Fraser University invites applications for the position of Executive Director, Faculty Relations to take office in early 2023.
The Executive Director, Faculty Relations provides executive leadership and vision to the development and execution of initiatives, strategies, programs, policies and services that support University-wide goals and objectives in alignment with SFU’s collective agreements and standards for people practices. This position has a dual reporting relationship to both the Provost and Vice-President Academic, and Vice-President, People, Equity and Inclusion. The role is responsible for leading and overseeing all functional areas, programs and services within the Faculty Relations portfolio, including: Immigration and Faculty Labour Relations (SFUFA). All matters pertaining to the SFUFA collective agreement are primarily directed to the Provost or their delegate whereas all other matters are directed to the VPPEI. Collective bargaining is a shared responsibility between these two portfolios. The Executive Director establishes and maintains effective relationships with the Faculty Association of Simon Fraser University (SFUFA) and acts as a primary point of contact for the President, Vice Presidents and Deans across the university on complex matters falling within the purview of the Faculty Relations portfolio.
Suitable candidates will possess a LL. B/JD, or LL.M. or a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Labour and Employee Relations or a related discipline with a minimum of ten to fifteen years of experience leading faculty relations services in a senior, executive leadership capacity within a higher education university environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
An executive search exercise is being undertaken by Simon Fraser University’s search partner Perrett Laver.
