It has over a dozen academic staff whose research and teaching actively engage many topics in Hong Kong, Chinese, Asian, American, European, and World History. The Department offers a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In the Research Assessment Exercise conducted by the University Grants Council of the Hong Kong government in 2020, 97% of the Department’s research output was ranked as “of international and global impact”, the highest in the Faculty as well as CUHK. Two more recent areas for research and teaching in the Department are comparative history and public history.
