Director of Communications
Advancement Department 


Chinese International School (CIS) is seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking, and proactive Director of Communications responsible for external communications, media relations, marketing materials and publications as well as the school’s online presence. Working with the school’s senior leadership, the Director of Communications will develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications strategy to achieve goals and drive growth through strategic integrated campaigns. The role will also lead on content generation, digital marketing/social media, PR, and internal communications in line with the School brand.

This position will report to the Executive Director of Community Relations and the Executive Director of Advancement.


Requirements and Skills: 

  • 7-10+ years of experience in a similar role 
  • MA/BA Degree in English, Design, Communications or equivalent 
  • Native English, with exceptional writing skills (copywriting and editing) 
  • Cantonese and/or Mandarin ability a plus 
  • Relevant experience in international education a plus 
  • Superior communication and organizational skills 
  • Excellent managerial skills with a mature personality 
  • Competency with implementing social media platform strategies 
  • Self-disciplined with a hands-on approach 
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to excel in a fluid, cross-functional and collaborative team environment 
  • Experience in providing informed recommendations to senior-level leadership

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide strategic leadership in the creation and implementation of impactful communication programs, internally and externally
  • Good working knowledge of the overall digital and social media landscape with the ability to deliver innovative approaches and plans within this important space 
  • Manage all PR while working hand in hand with senior leadership 
  • Research and develop marketing materials, i.e. brochures, flyers, reports, etc. 
  • Manage marketing campaign projects from inception to execution
  • Manage all social media activities (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc) to promote programs and activities of the School 
  • Assist in copywriting for multiple communications pieces and storyboarding and script development for video productions. 
  • Participate in community organizations to promote the School’s program and image 
  • Work closely with senior leadership to deliver communication guidance that is clear and direct 
  • High emotional maturity and proven ability to build partnerships at all levels of the school. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise excellent judgment 
  • Design and develop standards and metrics for communication success; monitor to measure reach and impact of communications 
  • Manage a team to drive the full communications program to ensure implementation and dissemination.
