With ambitions to create an integrated charitable foundation incorporating the Edgbaston Foundation and Warwickshire Cricket Board, the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation will look to take our impact to new levels. Our aim is clear – to use the power of sport to get more people active and improve their day-to-day lives and to support the communities we serve.

We want to use cricket across the West Midlands and Warwickshire as a catalyst for addressing some of the inequalities in life and bringing people together through a shared love of cricket across the region’s network of recreational clubs.  We also want to make sure that cricket is seen as a safe, welcoming, and inclusive sport, creating opportunities for all – whether that be on the field, whether that be on the field, volunteering in the clubs or participating in school sessions.

To help us achieve our ambitions we are seeking two new Trustees to join our founding board and support the development and execution of our first joint strategy and provide effective check and challenge. Successful candidates will be able to evidence an inclusive leadership style, a strong appreciation for the role of contemporary governance and a steadfast commitment to our vision and mission. Demonstrating excellent communication skills, they will work collaboratively, consultatively and creatively with our internal and external stakeholders bringing balanced judgement and celebrating diversity at all times.

Having conducted a robust skills audit, we are particularly keen to source those individuals who have knowledge, insight and experience in education; those with connections, experience and understanding of our local communities; and those who have good working knowledge of the charitable sector. Experience in cricket and prior Board experience are not prerequisites. We are keen for people from any background who share our values, are passionate about making an impact in their local community, and who can bring varied professional and lived experience to bear on our Board.

It is therefore integral that our board reflects the broad diversity of the communities we serve, recognising the crucial dividends that a diversity of thought pays in enhancing the creativity, performance, audience engagement and legitimacy of our board. Location: Edgbaston Stadium, Edgbaston Road, Birmingham, B5 7QU

Remuneration: This is a voluntary, unpaid appointment.

Time commitment: There are six formal Board meetings each year and an overall commitment of around one to two days per month can be anticipated.

Term time: Initially for a period of three years but with potential to be extended by agreement.
