Join us in tackling one of the most pressing issues of our time.
We are World Animal Protection. Global and lasting change for animals starts with us. We’ve moved the world to protect animals for more than 50 years. We work for a world where animals live free from cruelty and suffering; we influence decision makers to put animals on the global agenda; we help the world see how important animals are to all of us; and we inspire people to change animals’ lives for the better. We believe change for animals changes our world - for the better.
For many years we have been a catalyst - our passionate teams inspiring and mobilising people, governments, communities and non-governmental organisations to protect animals across the world. We have made real advances in our work, but there is much more to do.
Awareness of the importance of animal welfare is growing and the interconnection with other global issues better understood but animal protection still needs to be universally acknowledged as a global priority that can change the world, and animals continue to face unprecedented threats. Whether it’s the billions of animals that suffer unspeakable cruelty in industrialised food production systems, or wild animals reduced to commodities for human exploitation. Animal suffering is not inevitable. If we help people understand how their actions affect animals and change their behaviour accordingly, the lives of billions of animals will be improved, and a better world created for everyone.
Our International Board requires Trustees with highly attuned skills and extensive experience in strategic leadership in an international and multicultural setting. We are particularly looking for those with the following core skillsets: strategic and organisational leadership within an INGO, campaigning experience and/or fundraising experience. Ideally, we are keen to recruit Trustees with a substantial amount of experience in the parts of the world we need to do more to achieve our mission. That includes Asia, Africa and Latin America (China, Brazil or South Africa experience would be particularly beneficial). Trustees are expected to dedicate sufficient time to the role. This includes attending at least 4 International Board meetings per year (more information about the time commitment is available in the Trustee job description).
If you are a strategic leader with demonstrable experience and success in one or more of the skillset areas we are seeking, as well as a clear alignment with the values and behaviours, vision and mission of World Animal Protection, then we look forward to hearing from you.
