The Lir, National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin is a centre of excellence, a hub for germinating talent and a training ground for brilliance. The Academy provides its students with the highest level of conservatoire training on the island of Ireland for careers in the theatre, TV, film and wider entertainment sectors. Its vision is to develop the capacity, resources, facilities and diversity to become one of the leading drama academies in the world.

The Lir was founded in 2011 as a partnership between Trinity College Dublin and the Cathal Ryan Trust with significant input from RADA who acted as International Advisors until 2019. During its first 12 years in operation The Lir has already achieved the very high ambitions established at its founding. The appointment of a new Director and CEO, only the second in The Lir’s history, provides a significant opportunity for the Academy to bring new energy, focus and vision to bear on its ambitions for further growth and development into its second decade. The next Director and CEO will be accountable to the Board for the direction and management of the institution and leadership of staff. They will provide artistic and strategic leadership, maintaining and enhancing the status of The Lir Academy, and drive the vision to become a world-leading drama academy.

The Board of Directors is looking for an inspirational, creative and inclusive leader with a track record of strategic leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively with, to motivate, staff and students. They must be able to articulate The Lir’s vision, mission and values across a multifaceted organisation, as well as communicate this to, and work with, a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Candidates should have credibility within the Performing Arts sector, with key relationships in industry and a keen eye on the direction of the sector. They should also understand the Higher Education sector, and have the ability to gain the respect of the Academic community. The next Director and CEO should be a values-driven individual and have proven commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.  

The salary for this role will be €90,000-€100,000.

Perrett Laver, the appointed advisers of The Lir, are conducting an Executive Search exercise alongside the public advertisement for this role. Perrett Laver will support the Search Committee in the discharge of its duties.
