At Leicestershire County Cricket Club, our aim is ‘to secure the future of cricket by inspiring people to choose and enjoy a lifelong involvement in the game’. We want to use cricket to deliver accessible and enjoyable opportunities that grow the sport, tackle inequalities, improve health and wellbeing and enable people to fulfil their potential, both on the pitch and off.

We are now looking to take our impact to new levels through the establishment of a new foundation – the Leicestershire Cricket Foundation.  As the charitable arm of the Leicestershire County Cricket Club, we will be committed to serving the distinct needs of our diverse, multicultural County using the power and reach of cricket to engage, excite, inspire and improve individuals and communities. The Foundation will deliver an ambitious set of programmes, projects and activities into schools, clubs and communities through a strong partnership-based approach. By putting more bats and balls into people’s hands, our ambition is to inspire every generation to get involved and fulfill their potential.

To lead our founding board, we seek to appoint our first Chair. The Chair will provide critical leadership to the Trustees ensuring we benefit from the very best governance and will oversee the strategic direction of the foundation. Working closely with our EDI & Community Director and the wider executive team, they will provide constructive check and challenge to deliver positive impact across the County. Additionally, they will act as an important ambassador and public face of the organisation to raise the profile of the Foundation and generate support for its work.

With proven leadership experience, including at non-executive level, the successful candidate will demonstrate strategic vision, sound judgement and a strong understanding of contemporary governance. Used to operating in multi-stakeholder environments, they will help us to forge positive relationships with our key partners and local community, and support fundraising activities. An inclusive, collaborative leadership style will be particularly important who shares our passion for the power of sport.

We want everyone to say that ‘Cricket is a Game for me’ and we are committed equity, diversity and inclusion at every level. We celebrate difference and applications are actively encouraged from individuals from diverse backgrounds, in particular those who reflect and represent the communities we work in.

Term: The appointment is for a three-year term.
