Our teaching and research are already transforming lives, and as we develop our new strategy building toward 2031, this is an incredibly exciting time for the University.  We are home to a diverse community of more than 30,000 students and 7,000 talented staff from all over the world. The REF 2021 exercise acknowledged our place amongst the top research-intensive Universities in the country, with seven of our subjects placed in the top ten nationally.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University. The Department is part of the School of School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science (EEECS), along with the Department of Computer Science. In REF 2021 the Department was ranked 6th in the UK for outstanding (4*) impact and 17th in the UK for world leading (4*) overall quality. The Department has a diverse portfolio of research awards of more than £12m, from UKRI, the public sector and industry. The Department enjoys strong student survey outcomes, with programmes that cover a wide range of topics in electronic and communications engineering.
