In 2008, in association with Haileybury UK, Haileybury Almaty opened its doors. This not-for-profit educational project was the brainchild of a group of Kazakh philanthropists and was the first British independent school to open in Central Asia.

Haileybury Almaty offers a holistic and broad education with the best traditions of British independent schooling. There are close to 800 pupils aged 4-18 on roll at Haileybury Almaty with 25 nationalities represented in the school community. Pupils are prepared for A levels which enable them to gain entry into the world’s best universities.

We now seek to appoint a dynamic new Head of Junior School to succeed Matthew Aston after eight years of exceptional service. Reporting to the Headmaster, Simon Mills, the successful candidate will inherit a thriving Junior School community that has waiting lists in almost all year groups. This is an opportunity to build on considerable existing strengths and lead a highly motivated team to further success, including the introduction of an Early Years Centre for 2-4 year olds. As a member of the Whole School Senior Leadership Team the appointee will also have the opportunity to contribute more broadly to an important phase of strategic development at Haileybury Almaty.

The new Head of Junior School will be an experienced and adaptable leader with a track record of successful primary leadership experience developed in a UK and/or international setting. They will possess the cultural awareness and global perspective to lead a diverse learning community. First-class communication skills with the ability to inspire students, staff and parents alike in the pursuit of excellence are essential, as is a genuine resonance with Haileybury Almaty’s mission and aims.
