The Courtauld Institute of Art stands alone as an exceptional centre for the study of the history and conservation of art and architecture and houses a world-leading collection within its Gallery at Somerset House. Engaging with both students of art and a wide and diverse public audience, The Courtauld is founded on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to engage with art. This is an exciting time for The Courtauld, with Mark Hallett’s appointment as the new Director, the beginning of Phase Two of the major transformation project Courtauld Connects, and the Institute’s Centenary celebrations in 2032 on the horizon.

The Courtauld is now seeking a highly motivated, dynamic financial expert with extensive experience managing budgets and financial reports and reviews. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a senior position within the organisation and will provide crucial financial expertise and oversight of financial operations, business partnering, and accounting. You will also be involved in financial and resource planning and the optimization of financial systems across The Courtauld.

The Director of Finance will have a proven ability to lead financial and administrative operations within a complex environment. You will be committed to continued professional development, ensuring you are up to date with best practices across financial services. You will also be a collaborative member of the team, promoting collective leadership in the finance function and acting as a supportive colleague across the organisation. You must have an accountancy qualification and a comprehensive track record leading financial services at a senior level.

The closing date for applications is midnight Monday 1st January 2024.

The Courtauld Institute of Art is committed to equity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all individuals regardless of personal characteristics or background. We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds in keeping with The Courtauld’s strategic plan and workforce diversity policies.
