The School of Engineering and Sciences (EIC) at Tecnológico de Monterrey presents an exciting opportunity with the appointment of a Distinguished Professor in Engineering in Climate & Sustainability as part of the Faculty of Excellence Initiative. 

The School of Engineering and Sciences is home to more than 3,800 faculty members, providing undergraduate and postgraduate offerings for over 27,600 students.  EIC’s vision is to promote innovation, research, and the training of leaders through the exchange of state-of-the-art knowledge. Our mission is to inspire and prepare the new generations to transform the world through engineering and science in relation to Climate & Sustainability, a key strategic area. This area focuses on sustainable solutions for the planet's future, particularly in combating climate change and reducing waste.

In line with the University’s 2020-2025 Strategic plan, the Distinguished Professor will join EIC as part of the University’s Faculty of Excellence Initiative which aims to attract extraordinary, world-renowned professors in key disciplines.  We are seeking talent with unparalleled academic credentials, outstanding and recognized research and scholarly achievements, extensive international networks, and a deep understanding of the global context and current challenges we face. This professor will stand out due to their determination to advance purposeful, conscious, and impactful initiatives. Professors joining this initiative will be uniquely positioned to capitalize on the abundant opportunities to make an impact in Mexico, Latin America and beyond, utilizing our cutting-edge facilities, innovative research ecosystem, and worldwide stakeholder network to advance their careers and promote their accomplishments. 

The successful candidate will be an outstanding and internationally recognized Engineer working in the relevant field of Climate & Sustainability. The successful candidate will be expected to drive the research theme, collaborate with existing  colleagues, connect with our industry partners and lead interdisciplinary programmes that tackle challenges around Climate & Sustainability. In addition to academic standing and a track record of success in securing research grants, the successful candidate will have demonstratable leadership, together with excellent communication and networking skills. The successful candidate will also bring their professional networks including both academic and relevant industry leaders, and passion and energy to deliver EIC’s ambition.

Subsequently, provisionally shortlisted candidates will be invited to engage informally with key stakeholders and following this, they will receive invitations to visit the campus in April/May 2024 and develop a vision statement with support from the Dean. The final decision will then be subject to approval by the Selection Committee in May/June 2024.The final appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references.
