Enginuity is a charity and charitable group dedicated to finding new ways to close skills gaps in UK engineering and manufacturing, so that employers have the right skills to prosper. Our 'Enginuity' in marrying our engineering and skills expertise with ingenuity with data, is how we design and constantly improve solutions that provide a great user experience, create new solutions that are easy to use, and prove the business case for skills and talent development.

Enginuity is now looking to appoint a new Group Chair and two Trustees to the Board of Enginuity Group (covering both Enginuity and EAL).

EAL is one of two commercial subsidiaries of the charity and is a specialist Awarding Organisation and End Point Assessment Organisation for engineering and manufacturing. EAL supports the industry by providing high quality qualifications, assessments and skills solutions for educators and training providers.

Enginuity Skills is our other trading subsidiary and allows the charity to generate income from its products and services to third parties.

Any surplus generated by the two subsidiaries is gift-aided to the charity for reinvestment into the sector.

As we plan for the future, we are now seeking to appoint a Chair and two Trustees. We are very keen to work towards a more diverse Board of Trustees and equity, diversity and inclusion are integral to everything we do as we strive to make Enginuity an inclusive place to work. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and communities and are more than happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments that you may require.

Appointment of Trustees

Working with the Chair, our Trustees are responsible for ensuring Enginuity pursues its stated charitable objectives (purposes), achieves its vision, mission and charitable goals and is compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements. Trustees act as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible; ensuring that Enginuity’s governance is of the highest standard.

Candidates will demonstrate a passion and knowledge for skills and the engineering and manufacturing sector and an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.

For the Trustee roles, we are also particularly looking to appoint people who can strengthen the skillset of the board by bringing skills and experience in the following areas:

Human Resources – accomplished Human Resources professional with substantial organisational culture, corporate governance, DEI, and compliance experience.

Finance - Substantial financial reporting, internal controls and/or risk management experience at a senior level.

Time Commitments

Trustees are expected to attend Group Board Meetings four times a year which are held in various locations in the UK. Each meeting last approximately 4 hours. Board meetings are often preceded the evening before with a board dinner including stakeholders and beneficiaries.

In addition, you will be encouraged to serve on one of our sub-committees which also meet three or four times a year.

Term of Office

Trustees are elected/re-elected for a term of 3 years unless otherwise specified (maximum 9 years).
