The Australian Catholic University (ACU) is an inclusive community, with over 35,000 students and staff, spread across seven campuses in Australia and one in Rome. Established in 2023, ACU’s STEM Centre of Education and Excellence, located at its Strathfield (Sydney) Campus, will drive truly innovative and leading-edge scholarship in this exciting and ever-expanding area of teaching and learning.

Presently, the University is seeking to appoint a Professor of STEM Education, who will be responsible for the implementation of key strategic initiatives within the STEM Centre. Reporting to the National Head of the School of Education, the incumbent will lead the development of the Centre’s STEM programs, as well as the development of world class research into STEM Education and provide leadership and strategic vision to develop and enhance a robust and dynamic culture of innovation and collaborative academic achievement. In doing so, they will contribute to the Centre’s research, teaching and engagement profiles, whilst also undertaking a range of leadership and administrative duties.

This is an opportunity for a talented and capable professional to make a significant and meaningful contribution to the Centre’s mission. Demonstrating a commitment to the broader discipline of STEM Education or a related field, and with an outstanding track record of independent research in industry, government or academic environments, they will be a teacher, mentor, and leader of the highest calibre.

The appointee will be an inclusive leader able to influence across the School of Education and beyond to create and augment collaborative research opportunities within the STEM Centre’s remit. They will also be an outstanding advocate of STEM Education who is able to advance the centre’s reputation and partnerships both nationally and beyond, particularly through representation on academic, professional, government and industry bodies as well as public engagement.
