NTU is seeking to appoint an internationally accomplished academic leader and administrator with a deep understanding of the global tertiary education landscape, as provost and deputy president, to advance NTU as a top institution known for academic excellence, as well as for impactful research and innovation.
As the chief academic officer, the provost and deputy president oversees the college deans and school chairs. Collectively, they are responsible for advancing the excellence of NTU’s education and research, and upholding the quality of NTU’s academic programmes and their future development.
Dedicated to the holistic development of talent, the provost and deputy president will enhance the human capital of NTU in the university’s pursuit of academic excellence through strategic hiring and faculty development, and help generate resources to strengthen infrastructure, build the community, and broaden our networks.
The provost and deputy president formulates policies to attract, retain, and develop outstanding academic talent. He or she must maintain the highest academic standards in decisions related to appointments, tenure and promotion, and academic programmes.
In addition, the provost and deputy president plays a major role in the planning and supervision of financial resources, including directing the annual budget process for all academics, colleges, and student-centred units.
Finally, the provost and deputy president works closely with the president and other senior leaders to develop NTU’s strategic priorities, determine its operational needs, and address critical issues relating to academics, talent recruitment and retention, budgets, and community and culture.
