Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland

Appointment of Two Supervisory Board Members

Striving for a world where there are no longer any deaths from AIDs and where people enjoy good sexual health.

Aidsfonds – Soa Aids Nederland is a Dutch non-profit organisation that also works internationally. Working with communities as equals is at the heart of all our work. Through our roles as advocate, expert and involved fundraiser and funder we ensure that HIV, AIDS and STIs remain high on the agenda both national and worldwide. We strive for a world where people no longer die from AIDS and where people enjoy good sexual health. A world in which everyone can love freely and without fear. We do this by working together with the people who are hit hardest by HIV, STIs, discrimination and exclusion. We strengthen their voice and support them with information, knowledge and funding. For all that is love. We are working on this in the Netherlands and in 15 countries worldwide.

Our strategy is focused on our commitment to “community first” and with this in mind, the Supervisory Board is seeking two members with relevant expertise and with lived experience from the communities we work with, particularly youth and people living with HIV.

Potential candidates should have an international background to reflect the global scope of our work. Based on the expertise already included in the current Supervisory Board, the new members should ideally provide for three areas of expertise:

  • Fundraising/marketing, including expertise on strategic partnerships/donors;
  • Sexual health, including scientific expertise and expertise on HIV cure;
  • Diversity, gender and inclusion.

The Supervisory Board monitors the Executive Board’s performance and gives advice on and approves the overall policy and strategy. This includes amongst others the approval of the Multiyear Strategy and Budget, Annual Plan, Annual Budget, Annual Accounts, and the Annual Report. The Supervisory Board currently consists of six members.

You will bring an appreciation and understanding of good governance and the role of the Supervisory Board as well as an acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of Supervisory Board Members. Most importantly you will have an affinity with HIV/AIDS and STI response and be aligned with our mission and values.

The position of Supervisory Board Member is voluntary but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. The time commitment for this role is concentrated into five-yearly meetings which includes one annual kick-off meeting. The Supervisory Board members would have the opportunity to sit on either the Remuneration Committee or Audit Committee (an additional 3 to 4 additional meetings per year is likely).
