Join us in our mission to create a sustainable future for generations to come.

We're on a mission to safeguard our planet and ensure a future where people and nature can thrive together so that by 2030 the loss of nature has halted and its recovery has begun. As one of the world's largest independent environmental and conservation organisations, WWF is active in nearly 100 countries, working to tackle the pressing issues of our time. From stopping deforestation to bringing nature back from the brink and delivering a resilient, prosperous and sustainable UK, we're dedicated to creating real, lasting change.

We’re working globally and in partnership with communities, governments, companies and others who have the will to act and transform our world. We collaborate closely with local and indigenous communities, so our work is best placed to help people and wildlife thrive together. We are inspiring a global movement of people and creating a public mandate through our supporters and millions of concerned members of the public to ensure that restoring nature is put at the heart of all the decisions we make in our everyday lives.

About the role

We are currently seeking multiple Trustees for our WWF-UK Board. As a Trustee, you will play a pivotal role in guiding WWF's strategic direction, ensuring our mission to build a future where people live in harmony with nature remains at the forefront of our endeavours. From shaping policies that combat climate change to championing wildlife protection initiatives worldwide, your expertise and vision will drive impactful change on a global scale.

We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences, particularly those with expertise in climate and conservation science, fundraising and public engagement and resource mobilisation.

Among the mutiple Trustees we are also seeking a new Vice-Chair of the Board and a Chair of the Audit Committee. The ideal candidate for the Chair of the Audit Committee is an experienced and qualified accountant or someone with equivalent professional experience. You will demonstrate strong financial analysis skills and you will have had previous experience as a trustee or non-executive director, ideally with experience of chairing meetings.

We are seeking Trustees with a passion for our world, who bring a global perspective, a collaborative approach, and a strategic mindset that will help drive long-term impact. We are looking for committed individuals who will bring their professional expertise and skills to help WWF-UK deliver its mission effectively, by overseeing the overall policies and objectives of the organisation and by ensuring that the work it does is monitored and evaluated effectively. They will be able to demonstrate strong intellectual and independent judgement skills, experience in strategic decision-making and the ability to operate effectively at Board level or equivalent. Critically, you will have a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, recognising the importance of diverse perspectives and experiences in shaping effective strategies.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification and specifying whether you are applying for Vice-Chair of the Board, Trustees or Chair of the Audit Committee. The deadline for applications is 09.00 BST on Tuesday 28th May 2024.

The positions are non-remunerated (although we do repay reasonable expenses) and the initial term is 3 years. This can be extended for a further 3 years.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At WWF, we are deeply committed to equity, equal opportunities and to continuously learning how to increase the diversity of our people and to become a truly inclusive organisation. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and encourage applications from people currently underrepresented, including people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with disabilities and LGBTQ+.
