Interdisciplinary Chair Professor/Professor in Artificial Intelligence

HKBU is recruiting a world-class scholar to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence research and bridge the discipline with arts and humanities or healthcare. Candidates should possess strong passion and demonstrated research track record as well as international reputation in their field(s) of expertise and scholarship, including, but not limited to:

 

AI + Arts and Humanities

  • AI + Creativity and Education
  • AI in Content Creation and Artistic Practice (Film, Literature, Music or Visual Arts)
  • AI in Human-Machine Collaboration
  • AI in Policies and Strategies for the Creative Industries
  • AI for Social Engagement and Impact (e.g., via AI-Generated Arts)

 

AI + Healthcare

  • AI-assisted Clinical Decision Support
  • Computer Vision for Medical Image Analysis
  • AI in Electronic Health Record Management
  • Healthcare Data Security
  • AI and Intelligent Healthcare Devices

 

Candidates should demonstrate outstanding research impact and excellence in terms of reach and significance, exceptional standing in their fields, and a sustained record of significant professional achievements.

Colleagues recruited will have access to seed money and appropriate research facilities/support, as well as a generous array of competitive research funding from Hong Kong’s Research Grants Council, the Innovation and Technology Commission, and other external sources. The appointee will be formally affiliated with the Department most relevant to their primary area of scholarly or academic activity.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and conduct innovative research projects;
  • Publish research work in top-tier venues appropriate for their outputs;
  • Nurture young talents through undergraduate/postgraduate teaching in their areas of expertise;
  • Supervise individual student projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • Provide administrative services as required. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Hold a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a relevant discipline;
  • Have an outstanding academic, professional and research track record. Records of high-impact publications, successful grant applications or project funding bids will be considered as an advantage;
  • Demonstrate keen interest and strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and collaboration with academic staff members from other disciplines.

 

Terms of Appointment:

Level of appointment and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The University offers a competitive package which include gratuity/retirement benefits, annual leave, medical and dental coverage, monthly cash allowance and relocation allowance, as applicable.  Direct tenure may be offered to exceptionally strong candidates.
