The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching institutions. We strive for excellence through the creation, preservation, transfer, and application of knowledge. For more than a century, we have educated and worked with outstanding people to deliver knowledge leadership for a better world. UQ is one of only 3 Australian members of the global Universitas 21, a founding member of the Group of Eight (Go8) universities, and a member of Universities Australia.

UQ also ranks among the world’s top universities, as measured by several key independent rankings, including the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2023 (36), the Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities 2023 (37), CWTS Leiden Ranking 2023 (35), QS World University Rankings 2025 (40), Academic Ranking of World Universities 2023 (51), and Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 (70).

An exciting opportunity now presents itself to join the University as our Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Education and Student Experience (PVC). The PVC is responsible for achieving UQ’s strategic education and student experience objectives including digital learning, development, and recognition of excellent teaching. The PVC also has responsibility for quality assurance and enhancement, curriculum reform and renewal, and research in teaching and learning that centres on improving student learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will be expected to bring a strong personal commitment and reputation in both research and education, as well as a broad understanding of the differing needs and modes of education across disciplines. The next PVC will possess a thorough appreciation of the methods of education delivery, and the criticality of the student experience. They will be an effective communicator, comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, and have demonstrable leadership experience and management of teams, including both academic and professional services staff.

The incoming PVC will join UQ at a time of great excitement within Brisbane, as the city prepares for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.

UQ will be supported in its global search for this appointment by the executive search firm, Perrett Laver. For more information and initial enquiries please contact Deborah Veness from the executive search firm Perrett Laver via deborah.veness@perrettlaver.com or by +61 (0)2 6198 3270.
