The University of Wollongong (UOW), located on the stunning coast of New South Wales, is a dynamic and innovative institution renowned for its commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as Vice Chancellor and President. This pivotal role is responsible for providing strategic direction and executive leadership to the University, ensuring its continued success and growth in a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

The Vice Chancellor and President will be tasked with driving excellence in research, teaching, and student experience, while enhancing UOW's national and international reputation. This leader will be expected to demonstrate exceptional financial acumen, overseeing the University’s financial health with a strategic and forward-thinking approach to resource management and operational efficiency. Crucially, the role requires a leader who can foster a positive and productive culture among staff, promoting a collaborative and high-performance environment that aligns with the University’s financial strategies and goals. The ideal candidate will be skilled in developing and nurturing a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement within the institution, ensuring that financial strategies support and enhance staff development and engagement.

In addition to financial expertise, the ideal candidate will possess strong political nous, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government bodies, industry partners, and the broader community. This role demands a leader who can advocate persuasively for the University’s interests, build influential networks, and influence policy and decision-making at local, national, and international levels.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of academic and research environments, combined with demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial management, and institutional development, is essential. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills are also required.
